Wintumblr now:
- handles the server’s return status and message much better
- includes a Validate button on the Account Management screen to allow you to check your account details
Wintumblr still has problems handling large uploads. I am experimenting with larger timeout values to cope, however the server’s response is often missed. This results in a successful upload but no notification of the success.
I will release a beta version soon with some of the updated and new features.
I moved to a new home, got married, and finally got access to the internet again. Life just has a habit of getting in the way doesn’t it. I’m on holiday now and I promise to start implementing the promised features. Expect a new beta version in 2 weeks.
Tumblr v3 allows Videos and Audio to be uploaded. These are a little tricky to implement as they require checking account status and upload limits. I will be updating WinTumblr to support these new features as soon as I can.
Hi all. Just a quick note to let everyone who uses WinTumblr know that I have not forgotten about it. The other project is going on for longer than expected.
Hi, I’ve started working on version 1.5 of WinTumblr (partly due to a very encouraging email), but a new project is set to take away all of my free time. Since I have to pay the rent, WinTumblr’s updates will be put on hold for about one month.
Version 1.5 will feature a new Settings option to allow many features to be toggled on and off. This will include automatically closing the Post window upon successfully posting to your tumble log as well as a few other nice things.
Thank you all for using WinTumblr, it is most appreciated.
The threading works wonderfully it seems. I tested by posting an image and closing the form while it was posting. It still notified me that it had posted.
I could not take knowing there was something wrong. I was disabling the entire Post window while posting. Now I only disable all the controls inside that window. It means the cursor displays a nice hourglass and the window is responsive. Just don’t close it while it is posting – I don’t know what will happen. Also fixed a minor error in the Chat Post window.
My apologies to the one person who downloaded V1.4.
The cursor is meant to change into an hourglass when posting. However due to the added threading and the way I disable the Post window this no longer occurs properly. I have a solution that will be implemented in the next minor release.
If the “Run on Windows Start” menu is checked then WinTumblr resets the registry setting on every startup. This is only a problem if you run a different version of WinTumblr as the last run version will be the one to start with Windows. I am working on a few interface enhancements and will fix this bug when I release the new version in about one week from now.
