It is time for WinTumblr to go open source. I have not been motivated to add features or improve the client for awhile now even though I have some great ideas. Tumblr v5 has added the ability to edit and delete posts - that would be nice to do through WinTumblr.
In my opinion though, WinTumblr’s biggest issues are not having a good enough post editing tool and not having a preview-before-you-post function. Maybe someone with more time than me can look into adding these and more features.
If you’re keen to build WinTumblr into the best Windows tumblr client then take a look at WinTumblr’s Google Code site and download the source.

When tumblr v3 went live with video and audio uploads I thought I would add them to Wintumblr. I got as far as adding the account limit checks and realized that: I would never use these features; there was no way to ensure they uploaded correctly. If I remember correctly there were also issues with the Vimeo account authorization - you had to be logged in to Vimeo for the whole video upload to work.
I might revisit these features one day, but for now Wintumblr is where I want it to be. I hope everyone that tries Wintumblr finds it useful and complete enough. Thank you.
Now supports: private posts, setting the date & time, tags, and changing settings from the Post windows.
There will be a minor update coming this weekend all thanks to ndn for fixing and updating a few things in the codebase.
The Write API now includes a Click Through URL option (Thanks Marco!) This will enable you to allow someone to click your uploaded picture and be sent to some or other web address. I’ll find some time soon to implement it.
View the Wintumblr page for a description of the updates and additions. Please email me about any bugs you may find.
Thank you for your support and continued use of Wintumblr.
Version 1.5 adds:
I am testing out proxy settings for Wintumblr. This should allow Wintumblr to be used from behind a corporate proxy server. It seems to be working as this post originated from behind a proxy.
